Batchworth missed out on their chance to take maximum points in the league at the week-end - succumbing to something akin to a motor boat finish by Amathus with the two teams knocking 15 and 20 seconds(!) respectively off the days best times up to that point. Rumours abound that a certain Bangsie fellow even had his waterskis out, such was their finishing speed!
All was not entirely lost as we did, however, take the 200m event earlier in the day with another 'fastest time of the day'.
Batchworth/Breakspear Aspire did themselves proud once again, racing well all day though we're not sure about that 'young' lad in the middle of the boat.
WAM did enough, it would appear, to hold off Amathus Bees and take top spot in the standard league while Kingston managed to hold on to their fourth place in the premier league mainly by virtue of them being the only team this season to break into the top three placings monopoly held by Amathus, Batchworth and Thames at all the events (excluding Teesside where Thames and Batchworth didn't attend).
Congratulations to both of them and to all the other teams and well done to Julie and chums for organising a smooth event.
See y'all at the nationals where I don't suppose for one minute that the weather will be quite so nice!
Results are here and final unofficial league placings are here.
